Upcoming was founded in September of 2003 by Andy Baio, Gordon Luk and Leonard Lin. The team was based in Santa Clara, California. The application was intended to blend social networking with community calendars so users could stay aware of events and share information with others. The application favors web technologists and independent musicians in North America, however it is not limited to this region. Upcoming was acquired by Yahoo! in October 2005.
